Break was born out of a deep desire to explore the complexities of identity and grief through the powerful medium of film.

Our journey began in Utica, NY, the hometown of the filmmaker, where we embarked on a mission to tell a compelling story of one woman's struggle with identity, loss, and self-discovery.

Break is a moving film about a first-generation Taiwanese-American woman who returns to her hometown for the funeral of a beloved childhood friend. What begins as a quiet homecoming spirals into a haze of buried secrets and tempting escape. As grief cracks open the facade she’s spent years perfecting, she’s forced to face the damage she’s done, the identity she’s constructed—and the woman she’s afraid of becoming.
